U.S. citizens and resident aliens living abroad may have tax obligations, and there’s still time to file 2023 tax returns. For these individuals, worldwide income (including wages, unearned income and tips) is subject to U.S. income tax, regardless of where they live or earn income. They also have filing requirements. Taxpayers have an automatic two-month extension to June 17, 2024, if their tax home and abode are outside the U.S. and Puerto Rico. Even with an extension, they must pay interest on any tax that wasn’t paid by the regular April due date. Those serving in the military outside the U.S. and Puerto Rico on the regular due date of their return also have until June 17, 2024, to file. Contact us with questions. © 2024
