Members of the U.S. Armed Forces are eligible for several special tax breaks to help ease the financial burden on them and their families. For example, combat pay is partially or fully tax-free, and those serving in combat zones get automatic extensions on tax deadlines. Military personnel can also deduct moving expenses due to a military order and permanent change of station. Additionally, the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) can be claimed even with nontaxable combat pay, potentially increasing refunds for some taxpayers.
