If you open your mailbox and find a letter from the IRS, there’s no need to panic. The letter might inform you of a tax balance due, or it might change the amount of your refund up or down. In some cases, the IRS may ask for more information before your refund (if you’re due one) can be processed. Whatever you do, don’t ignore the letter. Generally, IRS correspondence includes an explanation, may give you instructions on how to respond, and may list a specific date by which you should respond, so be sure to reply in a timely manner. If we prepared your taxes, contact us as soon as possible with questions about IRS correspondence. Here’s more from the IRS. © 2021
