Hurricanes, wildfires and other disasters are all possible this summer. So it’s important to have a household emergency preparedness plan. The IRS is directing people to the U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security’s site (www.ready.gov), which features recommendations and checklists. For example, store backup copies of bank statements, tax returns and insurance policies in the cloud or on a USB drive. Also, keep a list of your possessions and video recordings of your home in case you need to make insurance or tax claims following a disaster. Finally, if your home or business is affected by a federally declared disaster, visit the IRS tax relief news page, https://bit.ly/3q5J00S. Contact the Cg Team with questions. © 2023
