Now that National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (October) has come to an end, the IRS and its Security Summit partners are sharing some best practices. Be careful about revealing too much personal information on social media. Be alert for unsolicited emails and social media messages that ask for tax information. Also, encrypt tax records stored on computers, enable multi-factor authentication whenever possible and use a virtual private network when connecting to public Wi-Fi. As always, protect computers and mobile devices with antivirus and firewall software, and set them to install any security updates automatically. Change passwords regularly and make sure the passwords are strong. Contact the Cg Team with questions. © 2024
