Some married couples want to know if it matters whose information they use on the IRS’s “Get My Payment” tool to find out when they’re getting their Economic Impact Payments (EIPs). According to new IRS FAQs, either spouse can use the tool by providing their own information for the security questions used to verify identity. Once verified, the same payment status will be shown for both spouses. The U.S. government is making EIPs to eligible taxpayers to help offset economic damage caused by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis. Married couples filing jointly, who fall under an income threshold, can receive up to $2,400. Read the FAQs. Contact Cg with questions. © 2020
